Summer Loving With Flavoured Water

Staying hydrated is one of the essential things we should all work on daily. Especially during this summer, our body sweats out more, and we quickly get dehydrated when we don't drink water for a longer period. The above does not mean just drinking water; Sometimes, even when we feel thirsty, our busy schedule makes us think, let's drink later, which means we will automatically forget our thirstiness.

Eight glasses per day. That’s the key to a healthy system. Health pundits have vacillated and argued over whether that’s a blanket rule for everyone, but the bottom line is that it’s a great start. However, anyone who’s started counting glasses of water, knows the tedium of having to down it. Pretty soon, you’re looking at the water jug or glass like it’s Satan, and within a couple of days, you’ve given up.

This Is Why You Give The Water Some Flavour

Think about it. Drinking plain water, even though it is good, sometimes bores us. In that case, you can infuse water with the goodness of organic fruits, spices and veggies. It helps in bringing unique tastes and makes your drinking experience even yummier. And you end up drinking more of it, plus nutrients from the flavouring agents. Win, win, win, water!

The flavoured water is one of the super healthy alternative drinks compared to the sugar-rich drinks, soft drinks, or bottled drinks available in supermarkets. Even if you are someone who is not a big fan of certain fruits or vegetables, infusing them in water helps in adding nutritional benefits to the body.

And It’s Super Easy!

You can make up different flavours for each day, and you can even drop them into a portable water bottle and drink them on the go. We suggest letting the flavours infuse for at least an hour at a minimum and up to four hours for robust flavours.

What Can You Use?

You can choose whatever organic fruits, spices and herbs you like. You can start with just a lemon slice and then build up. Choose from our all organic range – apples, melons, citrus fruits like oranges etc. and pomegranate (which are great to crunch down, too!); There are also organic veggies like cucumber and tomatoes; basically, any fruit or veggie that you like the flavour of. You can also add spices like cumin/ jeera, a pinch of turmeric and more.

Fruits

If you are not a big fan of infused water, you can switch to fruit or vegetable soups and juices. Coconut water, and different varieties of juices like orange, apple, pomegranate, and much more can ass treat your tastebuds!

Remember: when you add spices, let your water infuse for longer.

And Here Are Some Easy Recipes To Start With!

1. Energy/Detox water with Ginger, Cucumber, Lemon & Spearmint

To about 8 cups of water, add about 10 slices of cucumber, 2-3 slices of lemon, ½ tsp of grated ginger and 10 spearmint leaves. Combine and let chill overnight. It helps decrease water retention, calms the digestive system, and even causes weight loss.

2. Cool Water with Cumin, Mint & Watermelon

Take a large jug with at least 8 cups of water. Add 6-8 pieces of watermelon, at least 4-5 mint leaves and about a teaspoon of cumin. We recommend starting with whole cumin and moving to ground cumin if you like the taste. It helps cool your system down, digestion and better absorption of nutrients.

Watermelon

3. Healthy water with Orange, Ginger, Turmeric & Black Pepper/Red Chilli

To 8 cups of water, add 4-5 orange slices and ½ teaspoon of grated fresh ginger. Combine pinches of turmeric powder and black pepper powder or red chilli powder and let infuse overnight in the fridge. Stir and sip through the day. It helps with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits, increased metabolism, and weight loss.

Black Pepper

4. Coconut Super water with Coconut Water & Lime

This is made in smaller quantities – so take fresh coconut water from 2-3 coconuts, add up to 2-3 teaspoons of lemon juice. You can also add dried, and crushed lime leaves like kaffir. Refrigerate overnight before drinking. It helps with hydration, electrolytes and maintaining the body’s alkalinity.
