Ill health is not something that has to happen in winter, there are many ways you can make sure you stay on top of the game.

Lungs and bronchial health

When the air changes in winter, it is important to support the breathing apparatus, knowing which foods allow this will greatly improve your well being. The herb Licorice is one of the best respiratory toners in the herbal pharmacy. Here’s a recipe for a fantastic drink you can make yourself to boost your lung capacity and cellular restoration.

Lung Relaxer Juice

Vitamin C found in citrus fruits reduces the levels of histamine in the blood which causes allergies usually triggered by pollutants.

Diets high in chlorophyll promote detoxification of the liver and colon which supports the whole system in its ability to release toxins. A healthy nervous system reduces stress and constriction in the lungs. Magnesium and garlic both alleviate bronchial spasms.

This all-green chlorophyll cocktail will have a powerful quieting effect on your respiratory system. Take a seat, relax … and sip it slowly.

Dehydration

Dehydration usually goes unrecognized, but it can cause many illnesses.

Water helps rid the body of toxins caused by air pollution. In the winter months cold water may not be very appealing.

A simple solution to make water appetizing is to heat the water slightly and add some fresh lemon juice to it. This way you increase your immune response with the high levels of vitamin C present in citrus fruits, while remaining hydrated.

Water is one of the top 3 fundamental healers along with oxygen and exercise. It keeps your body hydrated so that all of your organs run smoothly. Also on the emotional level water balances the emotional energy, so if you have been upset and need to restore your inner balance do not forget this valuable self care routine.

Quick Tips

Fresh foods hold more vitamins and are easier for the body to assimilate. Why not get creative with homemade soups to warm you, with healing spices such as ginger or cardamom. These can be a really useful addition to your health regime.

Using veggies in a stew, adding your favorite herbs such as the iron filled parsley, will help enhance your well being and can go a long way in preventing any dips in your health.

Remember organic produce is always the better choice for goodness and less of a burden on the body.
